Living the Dream

February 2013

Monday Morning!

Things are going well here. I am finally starting to adjust to the climate, altitude and time differences.
I arrived on Wednesday, February 13th about 5:30 pm.
The Gipps were coming on Saturday for a Leadership Conference and so the first 3 days I was here were a bit crazy with everyone in preparation for the meeting. The conference began on Sunday night the 18th and went through Wednesday the 21st. Grandma and Grandpa Wells came to pick up the Gipps on Thursday and we all finally crashed!!!
Friday the 23rd we did our first day of school since my arrival. It went very well. It will probably take me a few days to get in the swing of things but I know it will go well.
I will begin teaching an adult English class starting next Monday night, slightly nervous as I am not sure of how it will go. I know the curriculum well but teaching to adults is a whole new thing for me. Pray I don’t bomb it!
I miss all my dear family and friends, but the Lord is blessing here. The Wells go out of their was to include me as part of their family and are very kind. The kids have grown so much since I was here 4 years ago we’ve had our share of cutting up already!!!
I had better get back to work.
I love you all, thanks for you prayer and support.
Psalms 40:5 “Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.”

En route (2/13/13)

I am on the fifth of six flights.
Feels like I’ve been on a plane for a week!
My first flight was Boise to Las Vegas… That airport irritated me with all the slot machines, I felt wicked just being there 🙂
Next I went to San Francisco. I am glad I had almost 3 hours there because it took a while to get checked in, I made it to the gate with about 10 minutes to spare.
The 13 hour flight to Auckland wasn’t too bad, although I was stuck in the middle seat ( not my favorite)I managed to sleep for five hours total and the girl I sat by could have been Lacey Zachman’s twin. 🙂
Flight #4 Took me to Brisbane,Australia (Nothing exciting unless you care that I ate a slice of pizza, and almost didn’t find the correct departure gate due to them changing it and not posting the right one on the reader board… Good thing I am a savvy traveler:-))
Now I am on the leg to Port Moresby.
I have gotten a lot of Bible reading in, also jumped around between a few other books, Jane Eyre and the Fight for Light, Watched a couple movies (although it’s killing me because I literally cannot remember what one of them was!), & listened to the Band of Brothers soundtrack at least four times.
I am kicking myself because I forgot to sync my iPad and iPhone with my iTunes prior to leaving :-(. Holly got me the coolest headphones ever and boy do I love them, thanks sister!
Saying goodbye was really hard, harder than any time before. So much I will miss out on with the nieces and nephews, saying goodbye to my Gram (She is such an amazing woman), Knowing my brother will be deployed while I’m gone, leaving behind a best friend in my sister, and leaving my parents with an empty nest for the first time since 1978 🙂
On the flipside I am so excited to get to Hagen and jump in with both feet helping the Wells. It might sound corny but I feel like I was made for such a time as this. There’s so much joy knowing that I am going to be exactly where my Father wants me to be!!!
With that I will bid you farewell until I can post again.
P.S. if you haven’t had Ginger Beer you are missing out, Yum!

It’s getting close 😜
The last few weeks feel like a blur.
I have had the wonderful privilege of dinners at friends homes, lunch & dinner dates, coffee/tea times and sweet fellowship with my dear friends and family.

Tonight I attempted to make another dent in the overwhelming and daunting task of packing 😫, it’s slowly but surely getting done!!!
Pray for me as I am fighting off getting a cold, so far I am the victor and its staying at bay…not a fan of traveling while sick.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so much, you know who you are 😉 I am so blessed with amazingly wonderful people in my life.
